Emerson's New IntrinzX™ Photometric Technology

Enhances Process Gas Analysers Performance
Sensitivity, range, stability, and calibration intervals all enhanced in Rosemount® Analytical X-STREAM® Process Gas Analysers

Emerson Process Management has unveiled its new IntrinzX™ intrinsically linear photometric technology in the company's latest release of X-STREAM® Process Gas Analysers. The photometric technology provides high-sensitivity, large dynamic ranges, and long-term span stability.
The enhanced X-STREAM analysers combine the environmentally hardened packaging and ease of use, installation and maintenance of the previous version, with the added capability of up to four measurements in a single enclosure along with the benefits of the new IntrinzX technology.

"The new process gas analysers will offer customers heightened performance and functionality," said Mike Fersky, process analysers marketing manager for the Rosemount® Analytical division of Emerson Process Management. "The large dynamic ranges minimise the number of measurement channels required and the long-term span stability will enable extended calibration intervals to save maintenance time and expensive calibration gasses."

The patent-pending IntrinzX technology uses split cell dual beam photometry and constant comparison of the reference signal and measurement signal to achieve an intrinsically linear response to changes in concentration. This enables sensitivity as low as 0 - 10 ppm, span drift less than 0.5% per week, and dynamic ranges of 500:1 compared to a traditional analyser offering of just 20:1.
"X-STREAM analysers feature extended ambient temperature ranges and an alphanumeric display with clear text messages available in multiple languages," said Bernd Thalmann, European process analysers marketing manager for Emerson. "This enhanced product line is engineered to provide optimal performance in demanding applications, with minimal installation and maintenance costs."

X-STREAM analysers utilise Rosemount Analytical infrared, ultraviolet and visible (NDIR/UV/UVS) photometry, paramagnetic and electrochemical oxygen, and thermal conductivity sensor technologies. The analysers are field proven and will help users fine-tune their processes for increased productivity and profitability.

Enhancements to Emerson's X-STREAM process gas analysers include capability for up to four measurements in a single enclosure, as well as new IntrinzX linear photometric technology

The new X-STREAM analysers are available in four configurations. There is a compact general purpose version which can be mounted in half a 19-inch rack or on a tabletop. The standard general purpose version also has a tabletop option, as well as being suitable for mounting in a standard 19-inch rack. The field mounted NEMA 4X / IP66 X-STREAM can be purged or pressurised for ATEX-approved installation in Zone 1 or 2 hazardous areas. The flameproof version can be installed in Class I, Zone 1, Group IIB + H2 hazardous areas.
Industries and applications that can benefit from X-STREAM analysers include refining, petrochemical and chemical processing, metallurgical production, hardening and heat treatment, natural gas production and distribution, safety measurement for flammable mixtures, biotechnology, landfill applications, and flue gas analysis of boilers, power plants, process furnaces and incinerators.
