Emerson’s SmartProcess® to Optimise Steam Temperature on Doosan Babcock Boiler
Emerson’s optimisation solution to stabilise steam temperature on supercritical, coal-fired boiler
Emerson Process Management announced today that it has been awarded a contract to implement its SmartProcess® Steam Temperature optimisation technology on a Doosan Babcock supercritical, pulverised coal boiler that will power a new station in Kentucky, USA. Doosan Babcock is one of the world’s leading suppliers of supercritical power plant technology.
Incorporating fuzzy logic, advanced analytics and model predictive control, Emerson’s SmartProcess optimisation technology offers adaptive improvement solutions to help utilities achieve optimised equipment performance for emissions compliance, temperature control, efficiency, and overall continuous operational improvement.
The SmartProcess Steam Temperature solution is part of Emerson’s comprehensive suite of optimisation technologies seamlessly embedded within the company’s Ovation® expert control system. The SmartProcess Steam Temperature technology develops a boiler steam process model that accurately reflects the numerous interrelationships of various combustion processes, providing for stable, accurate and cost-effective power generation.
The Doosan Babcock supercritical, pulverised coal boiler has a nominal power output of 750 MW.
“Our experience in controlling and optimising supercritical boilers is second to none,” said Bob Yeager, President of the Power&Water Solutions division of Emerson. “Along with our Ovation control system, which was built specifically to meet the unique challenges of the power generation industry, our SmartProcess optimisation technologies help power producers achieve optimum performance of their generating assets.”
